My Goody-Goody Trip!

I went to Agra for 5 days nd stayed at my MamaJi's place. I had so much fun there that it became hard for me to wait this long to write abt my trip! I'll start right from day 1.

I went thr with one of my cousins nd after travelling for 6 hrs we were completely exhausted. By the time we reached Agra, all our excitement had vanished and we were actually regretting our decision of going to Agra! Our journey was certainly not a bed of roses. But one look at the Taj and that's all it takes to forget everything else! I was thrilled to see its astounding beauty. I had always seen it in photos or on TV but never actually thought it would be so...so beautiful! When I saw Taj Mahal from its huge entrance( lyk Buland Darwaza) I was amazed by its majestic view! It looked absolutely magnificent from that place. How much love Shahjahan had for Mumtaz...the Taj says it all. No words, no explanations needed!

I have seriously fallen in love with Taj Mahal. Its serene beauty took away my heart in just a single glance! Taj Mahal has a life of its own that leaps out of the marble! It's the most romantic place ever! (Though I was with the wrong person ;-))

But that's not all..I have lots more to tell. We went to several other places too. Next day we went to Fatehpur Seekri and Agra Fort. Each and every wall there, depicted creative and intelligent architecture of the Mughal period! We hired a guide at the fort. Through him I got an insight into the lives of those brave and passionate rulers (which never used to interest me otherwise!) And I have actually started reading abt this stuff now! I liked Jodhabai's palace the most there. Though, after having seen the whole fort, me and my sis..both of us thought that Akbar was very partial with his wives. He got a huge palace built for Jodhabai but his other two wives had very small palaces. Their palaces were nothing compared to Jodhabai's! She had two separate palaces, one for winters and the other for summers. I must say..she was one lucky woman!

I didn't find Agra fort much interesting as more than half of it has been closed by the government. But the dancing area in thr was quite good. It was a very large and a beautiful hall with a very picturesque view on both the sides.Those people really used to build there forts and palaces by heart and with all the passion!

But half of these places have deteriorated because of the uncivilized public who do not understand the value of these places. I wish people would act more sensibly and realize the importance of our heritage and stop destroying them like this.

Besides this, we visited Kalakriti Mahal and some famous markets too. Kalakriti was awesome. It had an exotic collection of statues and sculptures equisitely crafted out of marble inlay, paintings, traditional dresses and jewellery, carpets. furniture showcasing Indian art and craft. And all the things were so beautiful and so tempting that we felt like buying all of them but they were way too expensive!

Apart from all these things, we ate a hell lot of yummy food and now, we both look no less than a football! Time to work it all out!
And I was so silly..I didn't even take the camera with me thr! Couldn't take any pics! But no probs..I hve decided I'll definitely go to Agra once again some time and that time M gonna take lots of photos thr! Until then Taj Mahal will be in my memories. :)

An impeccably written post!

Keep it up. You write very well.

And yes, it's a good thing to read sometimes on these subjects. Makes you a complete scholar and a sensitive person. But of course within a limit because these do not have too much relevance in today's fast paced life.

Hi ,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be wow.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘Bickering Kitten’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

Cheers,
